| Subject: Xbox 360 getting free to play games? Mon Aug 01, 2011 6:23 am | |
| It sure seems like it according to Hi-Rez studio boss, Todd Harris. During an interview with Eurogamer Harris said, “It’s really just the degree to which the free-to-play model and, even more specifically, constant updates are at – kind of what level of support there is for Xbox, or even PlayStation at this point.” He also added later in the interview, “It’s inevitable that Microsoft will move towards that because the industry is moving towards that, and once that groundwork has been laid we would be in a better position to consider Tribes: Ascend for Xbox.” While Harris focuses on bringing Tribes Ascend to the PC first and hopefully the 360 later, we have to wonder how Microsoft will let a free to play title become available on Xbox Live. Let’s face it, MS is in business to make money and regardless of what the industry is “trending” toward, they aren’t just going to throw a few Benjamin’s out the window. Does this mean advertisements while we play? Increase in Xbox Live fees? Only | |
